Haunted Singapore: A Personal Exploration. Part 2
In this article, we will look into the past paranormal investigations of the Teban Railway Tunnel.
I was reluctant to explore and investigate the haunting in this Tunnel which is situated under the Ayer Rajah Expressway and Jurong Town Hall cross junction. The tunnel openings at both ends are Teban Residential Estate and International Business Park in Jurong East.
The sole reason that I was reluctant to conduct the investigation here is due to the fact that that the tunnel floor is muddy and it is difficult to set up our equipment in here. Nonetheless, the urge to investigate this location drives me on because my trainee (I was working as a driving instructor in the Army during this time) was the one that had a frightening experience here.
Together with him, I conducted video interview with him in front of the tunnel entrance; he was a bit nervous to be on camera but here is what he recounted:
One night, he and a group of friends were exploring a cluster of abandoned HDB flats nestled in-between Teban Gardens Crescent and Teban Gardens Road. They chanced upon this tunnel as they noticed that there is a wide pathway that cuts through the overgrowth next to a row of factories along Teban Gardens Crescent Road.
Thus, they entered the tunnel for the sake of thrill seeking in the dark. Now, what happened next, as he is telling me this story, was that he passed out sometime in that tunnel and his friend was the one who told him what had happened.
He was unconsciousness and as soon as he regains himself, he was speaking in tongues. He was clearly possessed by something. However, his group of friends managed to subdue him. At this moment, as he was recounting what one of his friends experienced, right after, he looses consciousness again and they carried him back into the mouth of the tunnel.
This is all the information that he furnished me with. So, with this informaton alone, it sparked my curiosity to do a full night’s investigation and to try and see what evidence we might be able to gather.
Teban Railway Tunnel Investigation Commences
It was close to midnight as is the case when my team and I starts our stakeout every time. Ida, Faiz, Rudy, Raz, and myself prepared a preliminary run around the tunnel entrance. I switched on an EMF detector to scan the tunnel for any stray EMF1 fields that might interfere and contaminate our video as well as voice recording sessions which are also known as EVP2 sessions.
Only two paranormal events happened during our investigation in the tunnel:
There was a roaring sound that reverberates from the far end of the tunnel and ends towards the tunnel entrance where we set up our base camp.
The other significant even was that of a disembodied female voice that is sobbing, wailing and crying which was captured on the voice recorder. We cannot ascertain where the source is emanating from; we did not hear it when we were present there, but on the voice recorder during our review session.
We spent an entirety of 5 hours investigating that place. Unfortunately, the video and audio recordings was lost during my iMac having a total meltdown.
Here is a recent video of Raz and myself paying a visit to the tunnel. This time around, we have to give up the idea of conducting another round of paranormal investigating since the place is totally unwelcoming.
Next week, I will be continuing with Part 3 of my adventures into the paranormal. We will be exploring the Pasir Ris Park incident.
Electric and magnetic fields together are referred to as electromagnetic fields, or EMFs. The electric and magnetic forces in EMFs are caused by electromagnetic radiation.
